Coming straight from the Juarez-El Paso frontera, I'm a Chicanx Hip Hop head PhD Candidate studying Rhetoric and Composition at Michigan State University. I am currently working on my dissertation titled, Still Tippin': A Borderlands Hip Hop Rhetorics Migration through Houston, which is a study of Houston Hip Hop's culture. Part archival study and part public memory, this project examines how Hip Hop has been localized by the Houston community to produce their own distinct culture.

Outside the academy I'm dedicated to my love of Mexican food and cooking practices. My dream kitchen equipped with a metate, molcajete, molino, ollas de barro and a gas stove will eventually be the ideal place to talk and celebrate with the ghosts of my grandmas. Until then I'll just keep learning from my mom on the phone and feeding my friends and loved ones.
